AS NIGERIA MARKS 14 YEARS OF UNBROKEN DEMOCRACY

democracy is '' a government of the people, by the people and for the people''.
However, this definition has become a cliché but it nonetheless encapsulates
the very essence of democracy. There is hardly one commonly accepted and agreed
meaning of the term. This is so because it means one thing to one person and
quite another to someone else depending on each person's point, circumstances,
economic and social positions. In other words, these different meanings of
democracy to different people have origin both in history, social and political
circumstances.

Agbor
kingdom needs no introduction in Nigeria. It is peopled by hardworking and very
accommodating group of independently-minded people who cherish and reverence
their monarchical institution. They love their land and their burning desire to
see to the rapid development of their motherland awakened the people to a new
state of political consciousness. Hitherto, the average Agbor man was contented
with his life and living. He could easily Feud for himself; the farming Agbor
man could provide everything he needed, so is the merchandising businessman and
woman and the market woman. So is the Agbor man transporter. Gradually, they
began to realize that they couldn't do it alone any more and that they
needed more than they could produce and
that their sons and daughters needed to be properly educated

IKA SOUTH COUNCIL MAKING WAVES

It is no
longer news that nearly 95% of the drainages (gutters) in Ika South Local
Government Area, particularly in Orogodo, the commercial nerve centre of the local
government are filled with refuse owing to the indiscriminate ways and manner
residents of the area dispose their refuse, not minding whether their actions
are acceptable or not. The unlawful and wicked act has since become a routine
activity for residents who derive joy coming out very early, every morning
particularly whenever it rains to empty their refuse into the gutters without
any remorse.
