UPDATE 02 July 2012 - Ikaworld.com has authoritatively confirmed that Mr. Hilary fada Ibude has been released at about 02.00 AM today 02 July 2012, by the kidnappers.

Mr. Ibude who was said to be ill at the time of the kidnap appears to be in good spirit but sounded tired when one of our citizen reporters spoke to him this morning.

According to sources close to Mr. Hilary Fada Ibude, the kidnappers first demanded 20 million ransom and then dramatically reduced the ransom to 6 million days later. It is suspected that the sum of 4 million was paid. He was found in Benin.

Sources very close to Mr. Ibude are claiming the kidnap to be a staged attempt to having him killed. Ikaworld.com has not seen any evidence as at this time of this update to support this claim.

As at the time our reporter reached Mr. Ibude's home, it was besieged by friends and well-wishers.

EARLIER, June 28th 2012 - Reliable sources inform Ikaworld.com that Hon. Hilary Fada Ibude, the former Chairman of Ika South LGA has been kidnapped at his home in Agbor-obi on tuesday evening, 26th June 2012.

How it happened
According to our sources, Hon. Ibude was in his parlour in his home at Ibude Close in Agbor-obi with his lawyer when three men walked in with one of them in mask. They took Hon. Ibude away to an unknown destination in his personal car. His car has now been discovered somewhere near Ugoneki.

Ransom demanded
Our source inform us that a ransom of 20 million naira has been demanded by the kidnappers on Wednesday 27th June 2012.

Until the time of publishing, his whereabout is still unknown.
