IDUMUESAH PARISH CELEBRATES TRADITIONAL MASS
Edeh, Ebere Sonia

Tuesday, 10.16.2007, 12:59pm (GMT+1)

IDUMUESAH (Ika Weekly) - St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Idumuesah held her traditional mass last weekend. The occasion was aimed at bringing tradition into the church, and to make people feel that what is being done in the church is not exceptional to the culture being celebrated in our different homes and villages.

The parish priest Revd. Father Victor Ibude in his sermon, which was focused on ‘faith’, described faith as evidence of things not seen. He noted that those who see God are those who seek him diligently in faith, and advised that faith should be a guiding factor in our daily living and challenges in life.

The priest observed that the prodigal son had absolute confidence in the father’s ability to give him whatever he desired before asking for his own portion of his father’s wealth, and that as such Christians should have faith in God for divine provisions in all their needs.

The clergy observed that God has great things in stock for us, and He is always present to help in times of need, if only we are willing to ask. To buttress the point home, he read from the book of Mathew chapter 7 verses 7 and added that we cannot receive if we do not ask from God.

The peak of the occasion was the thanksgiving by the various groups in the church, Rev. Sister Josephine Chijiokwu and Chief and Chief Mrs. S.G Dikenwosi.

Speaking, Revd. Sister Josephine Chijiokwu who took her final vow, she said was highly elated to be a confirmed Revd. Sister after taking a perpetual vow for life on the 22nd of September at the Catcholic Cathedral, Isele-Uku.

She admonished those that have been called to serve God not to relent in their efforts, since God’s grace is attached to every call of God.

The occasion drew a host of dignitaries including the Okparan-Uku of Idumuesah, Chief F.O Ugoh (JP), the Iyase of Idumuesah, Chief Ibilibor, the Obazunu of Umunede, Chief Obanor, Mr.& Mrs. Anuku, of College of Education, Agbor and many others.
