Owanta-Aliosimi Community is an ancient community in Owa Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State. It is the gateway to other communities in Owa Kingdom and beyond. They are the goose that lays the golden egg in Ika North East and has so many positive historical backgrounds.

               

The bulk of internally generated revenue in Ika North East is from Owanta Community (Okwe, Aliosimi and Eddie). From history, the Owanta Community is one of the most hospitable communities in Ika land paving way for investors to invest and providing a place of abode (Habitat) to all and sundry. They are the commercial nerve centre of Ika North East.

               

Unfortunately, such a community that is visitor friendly has no access roads. Residents of Boji-Boji Metropolis pass through Owanta Street of Owanta-Aliosimi to Owa-Oyibu, the council headquarters in the early nineties. But today, that road has been totally abandoned forming a site for refuse dump, deep gullies and severe potholes. A visit to the road will tell you the horrible nature of the road. The Aliosimi to Owanta-Eddie and the Power Line Street running from Owa-Ekei road to Abraka road in Owanta are the major horrible roads in Owant Idumuetor that need urgent rehabilitation. Other neighbouring communities in Owa have motorable roads, but cars, trucks, cannot ply the Owanta roads, why? And so, economic and human activities have declined massively.

               

The Owanta community is an ardent supporter of the eight years tenure of Chief James Ibori’s government. Producing councilors on the platform of the PDP. They worked tirelessly to the emergence of the present state government Dr. Emmanuel E. Uduaghan supporting his three-point-agenda of which infrastructural development, of which road is one. They have helped all other elected politicians in PDP to victory at their ward 5, and therefore are obedient to the PDP led administration.

               

The youths in the community have been maintaining the roads through communal labour while constant grading of the roads were undertaken by the Elders, but we are yet to arrest the ugly situation completely. We are tired of many failed promises to tar the roads since the past twelve years.

               

We are therefore calling on the State Government through our amiable and listening governor, Dr. Emmanuel E. Uduaghan to come to our aid as we are a peaceful community that belief in peaceful dialogue. We will be very happy if our access roads are tarred like that of our neighbouring communities to give us a sense of belonging.
