I  AM  USING THIS  MEDIUM TO  CALL  ON ALL OUR CHRISTIAN  LEADERS WHO ARE  OF  IKA EXTRACTION TO  PLEASE QUICKLY HOLD  A MEETING TO RESOLVE  THE ISSUE OF WRITING THE  BIBLE  IN IKA LANGUAGE, THEY SHOULD START BY WRITING THE NEW TESTAMENT IN IKA LANGUAGE , THIS  WILL GO  A LONG  WAY  IN MAKING IKA FOLKS TO  UNDRSTAND THE BIBLE AND IT WILL ALSO  HELP PRESERVE  OUR LANGUAGE , A SITUATION WHERE IKAS ARE TAUGHT THE  BIBLE  VIA IGBO LANGUAGE IS NOT VERY GOOD , LAST YEAR I WAS  IN AGBOR AND IWENT LOOKING  FOR ONE OF MY SISTERS AND TO MY SURPRISE , THEY  WERE  IN THE CHURCH AND THEIR SUNDAY SHOOL TEACHER WAS INSTRUCTING THEM IN IGBO  LANGUAGE.NOT THAT I AM  A GOOD IKA LANGUAGE SPEAKER, HAVING BEEN BORN IN LAGOS , BUT I  WILL WANT  A SITUATION WHERE I CAN ATTEMPT TO READ THE BIBLE  IN IKA  LANGUAGE  INSTEAD  OF IGBO .

  WE  HAVE  A LOT  OF PASTORS AND  PREACHERS IN IKA LAND , I THINK THE  TIME  IS RIGHT , FOR THEM TO START WORKING  ON HOW THEY CAN COMPILE THE  BIBLE  USING IKA LANGUAGE .

 

 

Solomon, you have a way of raising points that touch the soul of our existence as Ikas.

Of course the translation of the Bible into Ika language would be a turning point in our history, but I think it will mainly have to be a personal project in the first place to succeed.

Any attempt to hold a conference on that issue will end in chaos. This is because there are issues that could be argued endlessly such as standard spellings and what certain things will be called.

I have always encouraged individual efforts in such projects. However, if it can be sponsored then it will be easier. I am aware that UPU (Urhobo Progressive Union) has been involved in promoting such projects for urhobo language. I hope Ika organizations will step up to it. 

By the way, I have heard a rumour of some folks already doing this as a work in progress but I am yet to meet them or know who they are.
