ABAVO, THE LAND OF MY ANCESTORS

By Onyekachukwu Allison Ajaja ©2011

I

Prance through the great land grinning, just grinning.  With my arms out wide and my head tilting back, but it never dips.  I greet my ancestors who have walked this path before me.  Who have left an impact; a legacy that we must keep intact.

Told to me by a wise man, my father who had migrated from the lands of Abavo to a new World.

He shares the values of Abavo with me and with us.

Values that I promised myself I would never forget.     Abavo may I stand?Abavo may I walk?May we represent to the world what Abavo truly means? Or at least what it means  to me, to you, and to us

Written by Onyekachukwu Allison Ajaja, a 6th grader from Abavo, born in the Americas.

I am so proud of my dad, Uncles Emmanuel Ekhator, Andrew Oghor and the other Abavo people in Houston, TX, USA especially for the fact that they are hardworking people with strong family values and how they have championed the cause of the Abavo people here and at home.
